Year of the Wooden Horse 2014

I'm not Chinese, but celebrating Chinese New Year is a big part of our country's culture. And I love Chinese food.  Did you know that the oldest Chinatown known as Binondo can be found here in Manila? It was established in 1594.

I'm a Metal Rooster based on the Chinese Zodiac. I'm not a big believer of astrology but, I find reading my forecast simply entertaining. The experts say that this is a good year for me wealth wise and career wise, but I have to be more conscious of my health and relationships.

Anyway, I just dropped by to take the time to wish you all great luck and prosperity in the coming days ahead. Can you believe this is the last day January 2014? How time flies!

Solbin's Super Dog

The husband is a big fan of hotdogs. He's always been in search for the perfect chili dog.  When I first read about Solbin's Super Dog from this blog, I told Mike all about it. And since we were planning that time to visit Seoul for a few days, Solbin Superdog was definitely part of the plan.

Solbin's Super Dog is a famous hotdog shack in Apgujeong's Rodeo Street. It is is known to be the best  tasting hotdog in Seoul. It's a popular late night snack hangout of the locals most especially in the Gangnam-gu area and is also said to be frequented by KPOP idols.

When we went to Apgujeong Rodeo Street, we had a difficult time finding it. Maybe because most of the blogs I've read while researching Seoul, have different ways on how to get to Solbin's. I asked a sales clerk in one of the shops in the area if he can give us directions. He said it was in an alley near The Body Shop. He was right. It was easy to spot after that. We were so ecstatic to finally find this infamous hotdog place! It is near The Body Shop and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

We were early. Solbin Superdog operates around 7PM or sometimes even later until around 5AM.

He's now open for business! Yay! It was freezing but we didn't care.

That's Solbin over there. He's a very nice guy. His English is not yet that good but he knows the basics. That guy with the green cap is a regular customer. He was the one who translates our English to Solbin in Korean.

We ordered the one with everything on it instead of just the chili dog. We were so curious! This comprises of bacon-wrapped hotdog grilled in butter with mayo, tomatoes, jalapenos, garlic, sriracha, cheese, sour cream, potato wedges and his secret ingredient.

I know this is totally un-healthy. But, when was the last time you really had an outrageously delicious hotdog? It was a real treat to experience Solbin's Superdog. That's hotdog the Gangnam way.

Follow Your Heart

I'm passionate about so many things in life. The first few ones that make it on the top of my list are:
  1. Travel
  2. Food
  3. Yoga
  4. Protecting the Environment
  5. Educate / Promote Awareness on subjects that will help people improve their quality of life.

Sometimes, I day dream: Wouldn't it be nicer to actually have a job that will engage our very own passions? Personally, I'd love to have Anthony Bourdain's job, work for the Travel and Living Channel or run my own hostel for travelers while teaching yoga on the side.

Although this may not be the circumstance for now, my interests keeps me motivated to work hard and to always give my best shot. I have been fortunate enough to listen to one of Chris Chan's talks. He is the Founder and Executive Coach of PPP Academy. My key takeaway from his speech: "It helps to know your purpose in what you do, it will carry you through."

So how does one exactly find his passion? Think of that one thing or a few things for that matter that makes you feel alive. Look for that exact reason that will keep you bubbling with excitement when you wake up in the morning. I know it is not that easy but just follow your heart.

Do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow. =)

Wishing everyone the best for 2014!
