Loolly and Tinker

I am currently on hiatus from the corporate world. I have started my career break since the month of May. I have travelled abroad for almost three months and now I'm back home spending most of my time reading and practicing yoga. Sometimes I do get bored but our family pets do a great job in adding  sprinkles of sunshine to my day.

Meet Loolly our pretty Pomeranian

and Tinker our cute and very loving Shih Tzu

They're best friends. Loolly is more of the Paris Hilton type while Tinker is more of Nicole Richie. Both share a passion for Dentastix.

Oh, and I gave these two a bath earlier today. They now smell nice. It made my day. =)

Apache Blessing

May the sun bring you new energy by day, may the moon softly restore you by night, may the rain wash away your worries, may the breeze blow strength into your being, may you walk gently through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life.

Happy Monday!

Bliss Lemon + Sage

Bliss is a multi-channel spa and retail product company founded in 1996 and headquartered in Downtown New York. The company retails its own line of bath, body and skincare products through its Bliss catalog, website, Bliss spa stores and at international luxury retailers including Bloomingdale's, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Selfridges and Sephora.

Bliss is one of my new favorite skin care and bath + body product brands. I recently bought their lemon + sage soapy suds and body butter during my trip to NYC and I have definitely "achieved a higher state of happy!"

This citrus-scented liquid soap whips up a luxe lather that cleans and conditions for supremely soft skin. Use as a body wash to shake up your shower, or pour a bit into the bath for a more stimulating soak; either way, it’ll make routine foaming much more fabulous.

Marvelously moisturizing, Bliss's famous, fabulous, fresh-citrus scented body butter is so incredibly effective that a single squeeze can make rough and scaly skin 'history'.

Here's my actual Bliss stash. =)

The lemon and sage make a pretty good combination. After using the soapy suds, I put on the body butter to amplify the citrusy scent. It leaves my skin smelling fresh, clean and feeling extra soft. It's Paraben-free too which makes it even better! Bliss products made it to the top my list.

What's your bath + body product favorite?

Birthday in the City

Birthdays are special. It is a chance to celebrate with family and friends for another year added into our existence. It is the time to look back and realize that we are a year older and a lot more wiser. ;) It is also the perfect opportunity to reflect, be grateful that we are alive and to count our blessings. It's been more than a month since my 18th 31st birthday. ;) Let me share some snaps of my birthday weekend in Manhattan.

We went for cups of coffee and sandwiches at Dean & Deluca
Our caffeine fix for the day
Watched a Broadway Play (Spider-man Turn Off the Dark), we were supposed to watch The Lion King originally but since the tickets have been sold out for a year, we opted to watch for Broadway's best new comer instead.
Times Square at 1:00 am
Late dinner at Famous Dave's, a legendary pit bar-b-q and then we went back to our hotel and called it a night.
The next day we went for brunch at Eatery NYC, they serve a contemporary American menu with weekly special
Mike ordered their House Buttermilk Pancakes with Fresh Berries, Toasted Pistachios & Chocolate Whipped Cream

Here's what the rest of us ordered:

Me: Belgian Chocolate Pancakes with Fresh Berries, Cinnamon Syrup and Strawberry Butter. I didn't get to take a snap of it because I wolfed it down immediately when it was served. :)

My Brother-in-Law: 3-Egg Omelette served with multi grain toast and roasted red bliss potatoes. spinach, smoked mozzarella, monterey jack, cheddar, swiss cheese, fresh mozzarella, smoked bacon, and sausage.

My Sister: Japanese Egg White Omelette with shiitake mushrooms, tofu, japanese eggplant, plum glaze and pickled cucumber salad.

I got to sample each dish from their plates and everything was delicious!

After brunch, we went to hear Sunday Mass at Saint Patrick's Cathedral then went straight to the SOHO district.

SoHo is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, notable for being the location of many artists' lofts and art galleries, and also, more recently, for the wide variety of stores and shops ranging from trendy boutiques to outlets of upscale national and international chain stores.

Dinner at Babbo

We didn't have a reservation at Mario Batali's resto but fortunately there was a reservation for a party of four who didn't arrive and the receptionist immediately had us seated. Woohoo!

Here's what we ordered:

Antipasti:
- Baby Wild Arugula with Parmigiano and Aceto Manodori
- Prosciutto San Daniele “Riserva” with Black Pepper “Fett’unta”
Primi:
- 2 orders of Bucatiniall’Amatriciana with Guanciale, Hot Pepper and Pecorino
- Garganelli with “Funghi Trifolati”
Secondi:
- Grilled Pork Chop with Cherry Peppers, Cipolline and Aceto Manodori
Dolci E Formaggi:
- Saffron Panna Cotta with Rhubarb Marmellata and Rhubarb Sorbetto
- Chocolate Hazelnut Cake with Orange Sauce and Hazelnut Gelat
- Pistachio and Chocolate Semifreddo
and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon (ooops! i'm not good with names when it comes to wine and liquor)
Pistachio and Chocolate Semifreddo for dessert. Yum!
On the actual day of my birthday Mike and I woke up early to take a walk in Central Park.
Having a photo-op with the Gapstow Bridge, it is arguably the most famous bridge in the park. Many movie scenes have been shot here
Wollman Rink
On our way back to the hotel, we saw these two pretty Korean ladies in their little black dresses eating bagels and taking pictures of each other with their Iphones in front of Tiffany & Co. Cute! Just like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Went back to our hotel to have breakfast then we went to Macy's

Bought some cupcakes for my special day here.

My birthday cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery( L- R Top: Red Velvet, Pistachio, Cirque du Soleil Zarkana Bottom: Chocolate Vanilla, Lemon, Vanilla Vanilla)
Make a Wish!
We ate our cupcakes at a nearby Starbucks which is in Rockefeller Center
That basically caps my birthday weekend off. Mike and I went back to Ridgewood while
my sister and brother-in-law flew back to Atlanta. Thank you Ate Che and Kuya Julius. =)
T'was a special weekend treat for us.
